If you are someone who cares about his carpet and wants to maintain it color, feel as well as appearance, then you must vacuum it regularly. However, you know nothing about vacuuming but would like to learn how to operate the machine and start cleaning that carpet. Here are some tips on how to do it properly.

Before you begin with your vacuuming chore, you have to make an inspection of the area. You must make sure there is no large object lying on the floor that might cause the machine to get clogged. Objects such as tiny pieces of paper, dusts and other particles are okay. Just make sure they are small enough to be able to pass through your vacuum cleaner.

After some time, you must check if the vacuum cleaner bag is already full of dirt. If so, then it is time to change the bag. Remember that if you have a full bag, the suction power will be lessen as the bag has less storage capacity, limiting its capacity to suck more dirt.

When doing the vacuum, you must always go forward and avoid making backward strokes. Forward motion will make the vacuuming job much easier and faster as you are able to exert more effort. Likewise, it will avoid your cord to wear out fast. As it is, backward movement risks running over the vacuum cord, which can wear out and even damage your cord.

Also, it is imperative that the strokes are overlapped in order to make sure that all the dirt and particles are picked up. Certainly you want your floor area to be spotless and speck free.

Lastly it is advisable to occasionally change the direction of vacuuming in order to reduce matting on the carpet. This also makes sure everything, dust, dirt and other stubborn particles are sucked off from your carpet.
